Ron Arad has a history of bending steel to fit his needs – in 1986 he did it for a chair and now he’s gone even further and bent sheets of steel into such a tizzy they now forms two functional bike tires. The bike was designed specifically for W Hotels and was just revealed at an event in London. For two weeks guests at the W Hotel in London could take the flowery prototype for a spin. As part of a fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the bike was auctioned off to one lucky cyclist along with other custom designed and constructed “WOW bikes”.
Heartbreak by Charles Pétillon
Covent Garden market is soon to be filled with 100,000 glowing white balloons, as French artist Charles Pétillon exhibits his work for the first time outside of France. The latex balloons, pulsating with light, will stretch through the South Hall of the market. It will take 25 people five nights to inflate the balloons, which are all different sizes.
